For many of us, one of the top things we would love in our next home is a bigger kitchen.  But it is easy to forget that for some houses, it is possible to extend the kitchen and achieve that bigger space without the need for a move of house.  Working with an expert in house extensions, you can easily find out if you can do something to make your kitchen bigger and better.

Kitchen dining rooms are a popular option that has an air plan layout with lots of light and space.  These are also very convenient for serving food as the space flows into each other without doors to battle.  If there is enough room, you can even have a three purpose space with the kitchen, the dining area and a relaxing space with sofas and a coffee table to enjoy a chat after the meal.

Single storey extensions are the most frequently used type for this kind of extension although a conservatory can work well for dining room areas and those lounge-type spaces.  Single floor extensions can also be easier to pass through building regulations and need less planning permission than two-storey versions, although you can consider this if you want extra bedroom space as well as the kitchen.

Wrap around extensions are an even bigger project and don’t work for all houses.  But if you have space to the side and the rear, you might be able to consider this.  Most people tend to extend to the rear of the property, especially if this is where the kitchen is located.
