House Extensions Old Kilpatrick

A.T.T. Builders provide a home extension - conversion service.

One of the great things about looking at home extensions is that there are so many options and you can find a style that suits both your budget and your requirements.  When you sit down with an experienced builder, it will quickly become apparent what type of extension will work best for you.  But before you do this, have a think about a few questions they are doing to ask you.

The first one is simple – how much can you afford to spend on the extension?  You can have a cheap extension but always remember the saying about getting what you pay for – this is a part of your home and you want everything to be the best quality you can afford.  So, set up a budget and look for a little extra on top for the unexpected.  Once you have this, then this is the first big piece of information that the builder will need.

The other main question is this – what do you want to do with the extra space?  So, let’s say you work from home and need a dedicated office space where you will be spending six to eight hours a day.  This might mean that a conservatory wouldn’t be the most comfortable space due to the amount of glass so the builder might look at an orangery, garden room or even a simple single storey extension.  The purpose of the structure is crucial in the design to ensure it is right for the job it will be doing.

Once you know these two things, you can talk through with the builder to see what suggestions they have to fulfil your needs within your budget and you are on the way to getting the extra space you desire.
